RBC Trust Company (Jersey) Limited is a trust company regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission, part of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Wealth Management division. It operates from La Motte Chambers, La Motte Street, St Helier, Jersey JE1 1BJ, providing registered office or business address services, company administration, and trust services.
RBC has had a presence in Jersey for over 60 years (since 1962). In 2005, RBC acquired Abacus Financial Services Group Limited, a Jersey-based trust and corporate services provider that had been headquartered at La Motte Chambers. The acquisition added approximately USD 41 billion in assets under administration. Abacus’s Jersey client book and operations were absorbed into RBC’s existing Jersey trust company business.
In 2018, a further merger combined RBC cees Trustees Limited, ISP Trustee Company Limited, and Abacus (GSK) Trustees Limited into a single entity.
Abacus Financial Services Group Limited (now part of RBC) appears in the ICIJ Offshore Leaks Database as a Panama Papers intermediary (status: INACTIVE) with connections to approximately 140 entities.
Note: The current “Abacus Trust Group” (abacustrustgroup.com) is a separate, independent entity based in the Isle of Man and Malta, unrelated to the original Abacus Financial Services Group acquired by RBC.
